The Bottletones - Small Wonder Productions - Often compared to Gene Vincent and his Blue Caps, this Neo-Rockabilly band from Carbondale, IL. is definitely not a bunch of old rockers reliving their glory days. Since their formation in 1993 they have been combining ‘40s Swing, ‘50s Rockabilly and ‘60s hotrod Surf into their own endearing brand of booze-fueled Rock’N’Roll. Bringing Rockabilly into the ‘90s with lots of whammy-bar laden instrumentals driven by that trebly guitar sound, a slap bass, and steady whacks from a snare drum. "We don’t take ourselves seriously, but we are serious about what we do".
The Buzzards – Founded in 1996, this up and coming four piece band from New York City claims influences by Social Distortion, Cramps, Chuck Berry and The Ramones. Their style is 'four on the floor, turbo-charged, slash and burn o’matic power'. "Strong stage presence without any antics, in your face Rock’N’Roll." The Buzzards "have created a sound which kicks you in the pants and throws your transmission into overdrive." BOP Magazine
The Celicates - SFAX Records - Traditional Rockabilly with a touch of punk. This Psychobilly band hails from Le Pecq, France and has beep providing a great style of stomping Rock’N’Roll since1995. The name comes from the monster in the Terence Fisher film ‘Island Of Terror’. Fast driving Neo-Rockabilly with brilliant slap bass and excellent guitar work.
The Deans - Kingpin Records - In these days of regulated "alternative" clone bands, The Deans offer an exciting and eclectic mix of old classics and new alternatives. Formed in spring 1996 the band plays a combination of Surfesque/Garadge instrumentals, retro Pop and a bit of Rockabilly. The trio hail from East Lancing, Mi. And claim The Kinks, The Ventures, The Reverend Horton Heat, The Cramps and The Beatles as their influences. "The Deans, East Lansing’s Rockabilly kings, tear up the joint with their unique retro rollercoaster." ETCH Magazine
Francine - Poko Records - This band got their start in 1987 in Tampere, Finland. "Francine" comes from the ZZ Top song by the same name. After six releases and more than ten years this band is well established on the international Rockabilly scene.
The Honey Dippers - Shattered Music - Picking up in the ‘90s where the ‘50s left off, this band makes the kittens swoon and makes the kats envious. The Honey Dippers bring a new breed of Rockabilly to Hollywood, Ca. Western Swing, Rock’N’Roll with some Jump Blues combine to create the Dippers signature sound. Currently the band can be seen at some of the hippest rooms in Los Angeles. Authentic Rock’N’Roll is always hip.
The Hooligans - Skizmatic Records - This San Diego trio pound out a driving Rockabilly hybrid with no stitch marks showing. Formed in the late ‘80s their subversively danceable sound has affected audiences like a wickedly toxic cocktail. They create an original sound by opening the veins of Rockabilly and recklessly infusing large doses of early Blues, Jazz, Swing, Pop and sheer Punk-rock ranting. "It’s new. It’s different. It Swings and rocks and boogies. It’s sure to appeal equally to punks and greasers, while keeping the Traditionalists home listening to the same old Sun Session recordings." The Grindstone Magazine
King Kerosene - Kero-Scene Records - The garden state won’t contain these boys for long. Though this North Jersey trio has gone through several lineup changes over the years they have continuously brought their own brand of Rock’N’Roll to appreciative audiences everywhere. Founded in 1995. Their latest single "Totally Crazy" has been getting both East and West Coast air play as well as in Australia. They have shared the stage with such notable groups as; Sonny Burgess, Big Sandy and the Fli-Rite Boys and Robert Gordon.
Loaded Dice – Out of the sultry heat of Atlanta, Ga. comes this hard rocking band playing their Vegas-strip style Rockabilly. Songs that make the girls blush with their filthy language. Think intense guitars, hoarse vocals, a heavy rhythm section and some absolutely hilarious lyrics. Momma sure wouldn’t approve of those Loaded Dice boys. "Like dice, they shake, rattle and roll. And more often than not, they’re loaded." Creative Loafing
The Lumberjacks – Formed in the summer of 1994, this Rockabilly band from Vienna, Austria mixes a bit of blues into their sound. The Puritans – The take no prisoners style of this band from Calgary, Alberta, Canada can only be described as ‘Chaos and Energy’. Sometimes called "unsane-a-billy", The Puritans have been together since 1995. The band incorporates punked-up R’N’B, Swing, Western, and Gregorian Chant into their music. Put succinctly, The Puritans are simply a full-on-rock assault. They have several releases out and have played with the likes of; D.O.A., The Mants, Huevos Rancheros, Finger and many others. "Like a firm kick in the pants, The Puritans force you to take notice" Core Magazine. "punishing beats, thumping bass, penetrating, slashing guitar, and a rare set of lungs with awesome force." Exclaim! Magazine

But no matter where they go, they always play full out. 3 Day Monks – "This is what music would sound like if people started dropping acid in ’57 instead of ’67!" This L.A. based band has too much fun for their own good. Combining Rockabilly-twang, psycho-speed Swing, Surf-madness, pumpin-Jump Blues and Beatnik Spy-Jazz; the Monks chew it all up and spit it back at you. |
